The Borough of Neptune City formed in 1881 when 37 residents voted to become a separate political entity of Neptune Township. Today, Neptune City is a popular family seaside beach town with a population of 5,300 who have access to incredible recreational opportunities and larger cities within an hour’s drive.

As peaceful as it is lovely, Neptune City benefits from its wonderful sense of community and nostalgic appeal. Throughout Neptune City, residents are able to explore its many surprises and delights that include incredible access to the Atlantic Ocean and all of the recreational opportunities available there. It is not uncommon for most residents of Neptune City to buy season badges for the incredibly popular beaches of its neighboring community, Avon-by-the-Sea. Bradley Beach, another Neptune City neighboring community, has a train station on Neptune City’s doorstep and attracts many home owners who are commuters to New York City.

As the hub of Neptune City’s activity is its extremely popular Neptune City Community Center, which offers a variety of organized sports leagues for participants of all ages, fitness programs and other organized events. Residents of Neptune City also have access to Monmouth County’s various amenities and attractions, which include the Monmouth Race Track, Monmouth Mall, several golf courses, marinas and a little league complex so spectacular it played host to the 2006 New Jersey State Little League Finals.
